# Christmas light installation in Austin

Canonical page: https://klemabuilders.com/christmas-lights/austin

Klema Builders installs, services and takes down Christmas lights for homes in Austin, TX. Buy the lights or lease them for the season. Every job is quoted as one fixed price in writing, from photos of your home. If a section goes out during the season, our crew fixes it within 72 hours. Payment is 50% at booking and 50% when the install is done.

Austin changes at MoPac. West of it the city climbs into Hill Country limestone, and the homes follow the ground: contemporary houses of stone, stucco and steel with low metal roofs, and older limestone ranch homes set back under live oaks. A holiday light design in West Austin is as much about the oaks and the slope of the lot as it is about the roofline.

Our crews come to Austin from San Antonio, about 80 miles south on I-35, and Austin visits are grouped by area. Southwest and West Austin sit closest to that drive, so Circle C Ranch, Oak Hill, Travis Country and Barton Creek are the easiest for us to reach. We measure your roofline from photos and satellite images and show you the layout before anything is hung.

Klema Builders also builds decks, pergolas, fences and steel gates in the Austin area, so the pergola behind a Steiner Ranch home or the entry gate on a Barton Creek drive can be lit in the same design as the front of the house.

## How much does it cost in Austin?

The price of Christmas light installation in Austin depends on the feet of roofline, one story or two, the roof pitch, how many trees are wrapped and how tall they are, extras such as wreaths and garland, and whether you buy or lease the lights. Every job is quoted as one fixed price in writing, from photos of your home. Payment is 50% at booking and 50% when the install is done.

## Packages

- **Roofline Essentials** (the front of the house, done cleanly): Front roofline in C9 LED bulbs, clips, timer, installation, in-season fixes and takedown.
- **Hill Country Classic** (the whole front and sides, with trees): Front and side rooflines, two or three tree trunk wraps, a wreath and walkway lights, plus everything in Roofline Essentials.
- **Estate** (larger homes and acreage): Full roofline with ridgelines, canopy tree wraps, garland, several wreaths, and lighting on a pergola, deck railing or fence line.

- **Buy**: You own the lights. In later seasons you pay for the install, the in-season fixes and the takedown, not for the lights again.
- **Lease**: One price for the season that covers the lights, the install, the in-season fixes and the takedown.
- **Your own lights**: We install lights you already own after a signed waiver, since we cannot vouch for the condition of lights we did not supply.

## Where we light in Austin

- **Circle C Ranch**: A master-planned community in Southwest Austin between Slaughter Lane and State Highway 45, with one-story and two-story homes and a homeowners association. Read your Circle C deed restrictions before you choose colors.
- **Oak Hill**: The neighborhoods around the Y, where US 290 and State Highway 71 split in Southwest Austin. Many are older ranch homes on larger lots with mature trees, where a low roofline and two wrapped trunks carry the display.
- **Travis Country**: Off Southwest Parkway beside the Barton Creek Greenbelt. An older Austin neighborhood with grown-in trees, so the canopy matters as much as the eaves.
- **Barton Creek**: Gated sections along Barton Creek Boulevard in the hills of West Austin. Homes sit well back from the street on large lots, so entry gates, columns and drive-side oaks do a lot of the work.
- **West Lake Hills and Rollingwood**: Two separate cities along Bee Cave Road just west of MoPac, each with its own city government. Wooded hillside lots where the house is often seen through the trees.
- **Tarrytown**: An old West Austin neighborhood between MoPac and Lake Austin, known for its large oaks. Bungalows and estates share the same streets, and porches and trunks suit garland and wraps.
- **Steiner Ranch**: A master-planned community off RM 620 between Lake Austin and Lake Travis. Limestone and brick homes on hillside lots, with an owners association that reviews exterior changes.
- **Lakeway and Bee Cave**: Separate cities west of Austin toward Lake Travis, reached by State Highway 71 and RM 620. Hillside and lake-view homes where the street side and the view side can both be lit.

## What matters in Austin

- **Live oaks and Austin's tree rules**: The City of Austin protects large trees on private lots, and big live oaks are among the species it treats as heritage trees. A trunk or canopy wrap on an Austin oak is light line wound around the bark and limbs. Nothing is cut or pruned to do it.
- **Hillside lots west of MoPac**: West of MoPac and out toward Lake Travis the ground is limestone with real slope. Steep driveways and walk-out lots in Barton Creek, West Lake Hills and Steiner Ranch change where a ladder can stand, so send a photo of the drive and the downhill side of the house with your quote request.
- **Low-slope and metal roofs**: Standing seam metal is common on contemporary homes in West Austin, often at a low slope with deep overhangs. On those roofs the light line usually follows the eave or fascia, held by clips that grip the seam or the edge, and nothing is fastened through a panel.
- **Limestone ranch homes**: Older Austin ranch homes in Oak Hill and Tarrytown have long, low eaves and wide stone fronts. One straight run of C9 bulbs along the front eave suits them, with a wreath on the stone and a wrap on the oak by the walk.
- **Owners associations**: Circle C Ranch, Steiner Ranch and other master-planned communities around Austin have deed restrictions and an architectural review. Holiday decoration rules differ from one Austin subdivision to the next, so read yours or ask your management company, then tell us and the design follows them.
- **Separate cities**: West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Bee Cave and Lakeway are their own cities in Travis County, not Austin neighborhoods. Each sets its own rules, so if you live in one, check with your city hall as well as your association.

## Takedown and storage in Austin

Christmas light removal in Austin runs the same way as the install: our crews come up from San Antonio and take down Austin displays grouped by area, so Circle C and Oak Hill homes are handled together and Steiner Ranch and Lakeway homes together. Every strand, clip, cord and timer comes off the house. If your owners association sets a date for decorations to be down, tell us when you book. We also take down lights in Austin that another company or the homeowner put up.

## Questions and answers

### Do you really serve Austin from San Antonio?

Yes. Klema Builders is based in San Antonio, about 80 miles south of downtown Austin on I-35. There is no Austin office. Austin-area visits are grouped by area, so send your address and we confirm the schedule with you.

### Which parts of Austin do you light?

All of Austin, and the Austin area across Travis and Williamson counties. Southwest and West Austin are the nearest side to our drive up from San Antonio, so Circle C Ranch, Oak Hill, Travis Country, Barton Creek and Tarrytown are the easiest for us to reach. We also work in West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Bee Cave, Lakeway and Steiner Ranch.

### Can you wrap a heritage live oak in Austin?

Yes. Austin protects its large trees, and a light wrap does not involve cutting or pruning one. A trunk wrap covers the trunk and the first limbs, and a canopy wrap follows the limbs out. Send photos of the tree so we can size it.

### Can you put Christmas lights on a standing seam metal roof in Austin?

Yes. Standing seam and low-slope metal roofs are common on newer West Austin homes, and they take their own clips. Send a photo of the roof edge with your quote request so the right clips come with the crew.

### Does my Austin HOA have to approve Christmas lights?

It depends on the subdivision. Communities such as Circle C Ranch and Steiner Ranch have deed restrictions, and many Austin associations cover holiday decorations in them. Read your own documents or ask your management company, and we will design to what they say.

### Can you install lights I already own on my Austin home?

Yes, after a signed waiver, since we cannot vouch for the condition of lights we did not supply. Our crews also take down Austin displays we did not put up. Tell us what you have and send photos of the house along with it.

### What is included in a Christmas light package?

The design, the lights, clips, cords and a timer, installation by our crew, in-season fixes, and takedown after the holidays. Storage depends on the size of the display, so it is quoted with your job.

### Should I buy the lights or lease them?

Buying costs more the first season and less every season after, and the lights are yours. Leasing is one price for the season with nothing to own. If you plan to light the house the same way for several years, buying usually makes sense. Ask for both prices on your quote.

### What happens if a light goes out during the season?

Call or text (210) 974-1420. If a section goes out during the season, our crew fixes it within 72 hours.

### Do you take down lights you did not install?

Yes. Send photos of what is up and you get one fixed price in writing for taking it down.
