03How we work

Four predictable steps. Same in every neighborhood.

  • 1

    Consultation

We meet at your home, walk the backyard, and listen to how you actually want to use the space. A real conversation about the project, with no pressure and no hard sell.

  • 2

    Design and scope planning

We sketch the layout in place, talk through structure and elevation, and define a clear written scope so everyone knows exactly what is being built.

  • 3

    Material selections

We bring real material samples to your home and compare them in your own light. Composite versus cedar, roof options, railings, and finishes, chosen with you, not guessed.

  • 4

    HOA and permit coordination

When your project needs HOA approval or a city permit, we prepare the submission package and handle the back-and-forth so you are not chasing paperwork.

  • 5

    Build and progress updates

A tight, trusted crew builds the project on a written schedule. You get regular progress updates, so you always know what is happening and what comes next.

  • 6

    Final walkthrough

We walk the finished project with you, complete a punch list together, and hand over every manufacturer warranty registered in your name.

04San Antonio FAQs

What San Antonio homeowners ask before they hire us.

What does Klema Builders build in San Antonio?
Klema Builders is a San Antonio based design-build firm specializing in custom decks, pergolas, arbors, and patios. We serve every neighborhood inside Loop 1604, plus the Hill Country corridors out to Boerne, Bulverde, and New Braunfels. Every project includes a free in-home design consult, HOA submissions, city permits, a fixed-price quote line by line, and manufacturer warranties registered in your name at the walk-through.
What neighborhoods of San Antonio do you build in?
We build in every neighborhood inside Loop 1604 plus the major Hill Country corridors. The neighborhoods with the highest concentration of recent Klema builds are Stone Oak, Alamo Heights, Shavano Park, Cibolo, Schertz, Helotes, and the Dominion.
Do you handle City of San Antonio permits?
Yes. We pull all deck, electrical, gas, and roof permits required by the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, or the relevant ETJ. Permitting is a line item in your quote.
How does San Antonio's climate affect material choice?
Direct sun and surface temperatures are the two biggest factors. We choose heat-rated capped composites for sun-exposed decks, sealed cedar for shaded structures, and stainless-grade fasteners that survive Hill Country humidity.
Which HOAs do you work with most often?
Stone Oak, Alamo Ranch, Cibolo Valley, Timberwood Park, Champions Run, the Dominion, Fair Oaks Ranch, Garden Ridge, and Sonterra. We know each HOA's submission portal, average review time, and stylistic preferences.
Can you build during the summer when it is 100 plus degrees?
Yes. Our team starts at sunrise, shifts to shaded work mid-day, and stages materials to keep job sites organized through the heat. Most of our highest-volume months are June through September.
How fast can you start a project in San Antonio?
We typically start cedar arbors and pergolas within 2 to 3 weeks of contract, and composite or cedar decks within 4 to 6 weeks. Larger combination projects run 6 to 10 weeks depending on materials. The schedule is committed in writing.
