Lighting a home in San Antonio
San Antonio is two different lighting jobs. North of Loop 1604 the homes are two-story stucco and limestone with long, steep rooflines and a homeowners association that has an opinion about them. Inside Loop 410 the homes are older and lower, set behind live oaks and pecans that are older than the house, and the trees carry the display as much as the roof does.
Our crews light both. We measure your roofline from photos and satellite images, show you the design, and hang it with clips matched to your roof. The same company builds decks, pergolas, fences and steel gates across the city, so the pergola out back and the gate at the drive can be lit along with the front of the house.
How much does it cost in San Antonio?
The price of Christmas light installation in San Antonio depends on the feet of roofline, one story or two, the roof pitch, how many trees are wrapped and how tall they are, extras such as wreaths and garland, and whether you buy or lease the lights. Every job is quoted as one fixed price in writing, from photos of your home. Payment is 50% at booking and 50% when the install is done.

Where we light in San Antonio
- Stone Oak
- Two-story stucco with tile and shingle roofs. Most sections sit under an owners association with rules on exterior decoration, so check yours before you pick colors.
- The Dominion
- Gated estate lots off IH-10 West with long rooflines, entry courts and stone columns that take wreaths and garland well.
- Sonterra and Rogers Ranch
- Hilltop and greenbelt lots where the front of the house is seen from the street below, so the ridgelines matter as much as the gutters.
- Alamo Ranch and the Far West Side
- Newer one-story and two-story homes on regular lots. A clean front roofline is the whole look here.
- Monte Vista
- A city historic district of large early-1900s homes north of downtown, with deep porches and mature trees.
- King William
- A city historic district on the San Antonio River south of downtown. Porches, railings and iron fences suit garland more than a hard roofline.
- Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills and Olmos Park
- Three separate cities inside Loop 410, each with its own city hall. Older homes under a heavy live oak canopy.
- Shavano Park, Castle Hills and Hollywood Park
- Separate cities on the north side with larger lots, long driveways and one-story ranch homes that light well along a low roofline.
What matters in San Antonio
- Live oaks
- The live oak is the tree San Antonio is known for, and it keeps its leaves through December. A trunk wrap reads from the street; a canopy wrap on a large oak can be the largest line in a quote, because the tree is wider than the house.
- Roofs
- Composition shingle is the most common roof in the city. Clay and concrete tile is common on stucco homes in Stone Oak and The Dominion, and standing seam metal is common on newer Hill Country style homes. Each one takes a different clip, and tile in particular should never be walked more than it has to be.
- Owners associations
- Master-planned neighborhoods north of Loop 1604 commonly set rules for holiday decorations, including how early they can go up and how long they can stay. The rules differ by subdivision, so read your deed restrictions or ask your management company before the install date is set.
- Separate cities
- Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, Olmos Park, Castle Hills, Shavano Park, Hollywood Park and Hill Country Village are their own cities inside the San Antonio metro. We work in all of them; it matters mostly for street parking and work hours, which each city sets for itself.
- Weather
- A San Antonio December can be 80 degrees one afternoon and a hard north wind the next morning. Every run is clipped for wind, and we do not work on a wet roof, so a rain day moves the install to the next open date.
- Dia de los Reyes
- Many San Antonio families keep their lights up through Three Kings Day on January 6. Tell us when you book and we plan your takedown for after it.
Takedown and storage in San Antonio
Takedown in San Antonio follows the holidays, and for many families that means after Three Kings Day on January 6. Our crew takes down every strand, clip, cord and timer. If your neighborhood has a date by which decorations must be down, tell us and we work to it. We also take down lights we did not install.
San Antonio questions
How much does Christmas light installation cost in San Antonio?
The price of Christmas light installation in San Antonio depends on the feet of roofline, one story or two, the roof pitch, how many trees are wrapped and how tall they are, extras such as wreaths and garland, and whether you buy or lease the lights. Every job is quoted as one fixed price in writing, from photos of your home. Payment is 50% at booking and 50% when the install is done.
Do you install holiday lights in every part of San Antonio?
Yes. Our crews work across the city, inside and outside Loop 1604, and in the separate cities inside the metro: Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, Olmos Park, Castle Hills, Shavano Park, Hollywood Park and Hill Country Village.
Does my San Antonio HOA have to approve Christmas lights?
It depends on the subdivision. Many owners associations in Stone Oak, Sonterra, The Dominion and Alamo Ranch set rules for holiday decorations, such as the dates they can be up. Read your deed restrictions or ask your management company. Tell us what the rules are and the design follows them.
Can you wrap the live oaks in my front yard?
Yes. A trunk wrap covers the trunk and the first limbs. A canopy wrap follows the limbs out into the tree and takes more lights and more time, so it is priced by the tree after we see photos of it.
Can you install lights on a clay tile roof in Stone Oak or The Dominion?
Yes. Tile takes its own clip, and the crew plans the run so the tile is walked as little as possible. Send a photo of the roof with your quote request so the right clips are on the truck.
Can I keep my lights up until Three Kings Day?
Yes. Tell us when you book and your takedown is planned for after January 6. Check whether your owners association sets an earlier date.
Can you light the pergola or the gate along with the house?
Yes. Pergolas, patio covers, deck railings, fence lines and entry gates can be part of the same design and the same install visit as the roofline.
What is included in a Christmas light package?
The design, the lights, clips, cords and a timer, installation by our crew, in-season fixes, and takedown after the holidays. Storage depends on the size of the display, so it is quoted with your job.
Should I buy the lights or lease them?
Buying costs more the first season and less every season after, and the lights are yours. Leasing is one price for the season with nothing to own. If you plan to light the house the same way for several years, buying usually makes sense. Ask for both prices on your quote.
What happens if a light goes out during the season?
Call or text (210) 974-1420. If a section goes out during the season, our crew fixes it within 72 hours.
Do you take down lights you did not install?
Yes. Send photos of what is up and you get one fixed price in writing for taking it down.
